Until I supercharged my car, most all of my dyno performance tests were performed on a Dynapack dynamometer. With your original dyno files and the right tools, it's easy to view, compare, and print your own Dynapack dyno results. Below are detailed instructions for viewing and comparing files from a Dynapack dyno.
To VIEW Dynapack Dyno Files
- Download and install the dyno data viewer.
- Run the Dynapack Viewer.
- Press <F8> (Folders). I don't think the function keys actually work here, so place the mouse over the <F8> key on the screen and left click.
- Press the "Import Files" button.
- Locate the file you downloaded and saved on your computer. Highlight it, and click "Add" then "OK"
- Select the "Vehicle Folder" on the left of your screen where you just imported the dyno results. On my system, it was in my TEMP directory, so the folder name is "TEMP"
- Double Click on "PencilGeekDyno-2008-05-08." When the "Load Data" dialog box is displayed, select "Source"
- When promted to overwrite the current vehicle setup, select "YES"
- When the dyno chart is first displayed, you'll want to change a few settings (if they are not already set). Select Setup->System. Look under the "Power Correction Standard." Change the Standard to "SAE (adapted) setting.
- In the "Units" area, select your preferred HP/TQ, PS/KW/NM settings -- according to how prefer to view this data.
- Makes sure the "Correct Torque with Power Correction" checkbox is checked (bottom right of screen)
- Press F10 -- OK
- Change the display: Display->Flywheel Torque Graph.
- Look at the various other display graphs as well.
- Temperature Graph
- Statistics
- View Data. You can add/delete data columns on this display. You can also look at the individual data for each dyno run by changing the "Data source. You can also export the data from this screen into a spreadsheet.
- Play with the software and you'll probably prefer it to a spreadsheet.
- Export the data if you wish into a spreadsheet, and make your own graphs.
To COMPARE Dynapack Dyno Files
- Follow all of the instructions above to load the dynapack data file.
- Download/Locate the dyno files for comparison. Save it in the same location as above.
- Click Display->Status & Relative Graphs (or press the 'Home' key on your keyboard)
- Double Click on "PencilGeekDyno-2008-05-08." When the "Load Data" dialog box is displayed, select "Comparison"
- When promted to overwrite the current vehicle setup, select "NO"
